The state Highway Patrol’s Norwalk post is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 6:50 a.m. today on Whittlesey Road, north of Lais Road.

Holly O’Neal, 37, of Norwalk, was driving a 2001 Honda Civic north on Whittlesey Road when she lost control of her vehicle and went left of center, colliding head-on with a 2007 Dodge Nitro driven by Mylinda Johnson, 39, of Norwalk, troopers said. Both vehicles came to rest off the north side of the roadway.

O’Neal, who was wearing her seat belt, received fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Her body was transported from the scene by North Central EMS to Evans Funeral Home in Norwalk. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Bob’s Auto Towing.

Johnson, who was wearing her seat belt, received incapacitating injuries and was transported from the scene by North Central EMS to Fisher Titus Medical Center.

Two passengers in Johnson's vehicle also were injured and taken by ambulance to Fisher-Titus.

Kayla Johnson, 14, of Norwalk, was the right front passenger. She was not wearing her seat belt and received incapacitating injuries.

Luke Johnson, 14, of Norwalk, was the right rear passenger. He was wearing his seat belt and received non incapacitating injuries.

There is no indication of alcohol or drug involvement, and weather conditions were not a factor, troopers said. The crash remains under investigation.

Assistance at the scene was provided by North Central Fire and EMS, Norwalk Fire Department, and Bob’s Auto Towing.

Seen it All

Weather conditions not a factor? Hmmmm Was crappy at my house at 7 am with things getting slick. Prayers for all involved.

I have to agree. I drove from Sandusky around 6:30 AM. The snow made it very difficult to see, not to mention the heavy slush made the roads slippery.

My thoughts to the families.

So sadden by this.....RIP Holly, you were an amazing woman with a beautiful soul!

wow! so quick, so unexpected, so is so full of twists and turns...makes me think of something I saw in a movie..Forrest Gump, when he offers someone a piece of chocolate..."Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get" So sad, but so true. I don't know any of the families involved, but I feel deeply for all involved..God Bless...

This is horrible news. So saddening. I really hope her whole family has been notified of her death before they put it in the paper! Prayers to the families involved.

My heart just aches for her husband and family. I worked with her at IPC and she had such a great smile, and personality. Heaven has gained another angel. The Meyer / O'Neal family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Such a shame..This happened at 6:50 am, I had came thru around 5:35 am..The weather may have cleared up some but there was still a lot of water & slush on the road..Our heartfelt sympathy to her husband, children, family, & close friends..

How unfortunate, didn't know the lady but always saw her walking her two dogs, way to young for a life to end.
