A crew member on the Disney Dream was arrested Thursday after a 13-year-old girl said he molested her on the cruise ship, authorities said.
Disney Cruise Lines contacted Port Canaveral, Fla., police about 8:10 a.m. to report that Ahmed Sofyan, 37, of Jakarta, Indonesia, was suspected of molesting the teen, a port spokeswoman said. Disney also notified the FBI and the Coast Guard.
The ship was docked at the port during a “turnaround” day when the incident occurred, a Disney spokeswoman said. That means some passengers were about to get off, while others were waiting to board.
Disney fired Sofyan.
Authorities did not identify the girl, citing laws protecting victims of sexual abuse. Police said Sofyan did not know her.
“We have no tolerance whatsoever for the behavior alleged in this incident,” Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line, said in a statement.
