Man gets prison time for role in fight at high school basketball game

A Toledo man who struck and shoved a Lucas County sheriff’s deputy trying to break up a fight at a high school basketball game was sentenced Monday to 17 months in prison.

Andre Wright, Jr., 21, of 1762 Macomber St. pleaded guilty March 17 to assault on a peace officer and misdemeanor riot for his role in a fight Dec. 20 at the Bowsher-Scott game at Bowsher.

Also Monday, co-defendant Tyler McCreary, 20, of 829 Toronto Ave. pleaded guilty before Judge Dean Mandros to misdemeanor riot. McCreary, who is to be sentenced April 29, also is charged with participating in a criminal gang.
