A Bellevue man pleaded guilty Tuesday to selling heroin to a confidential informant.

Daniel P. Ruffing, 28, of 3083 Ohio 4, was convicted of an amended count of trafficking in heroin. As part of a plea deal, Huron County Assistant Prosecutor Richard Woodruff said the state dismissed the part of Ruffing's indictment which alleged he committed the April 16 offense in the vicinity of a school. That lowered the charge from a fourth-degree felony to a fifth-degree felony.

The defendant sold .1 gram of heroin to a confidential informant during a controlled purchase, Woodruff said.

Ruffing was released from the Huron County Jail on a personal recognizance bond after his Jan. 21 arraignment. That means he signed a court document promising he would return for future hearings without having to pay any money.

Since Ruffing doesn't have any prior felony convictions, Huron County Common Pleas Judge Jim Conway told him he likely will be placed on probation instead of a prison term. His community control sanctions could include six to 12 months in jail. Ruffing will be sentenced May 15.

This story tells you why we have the drug problems we do in Huron county. Good Job Conway and the Assistant Prosecutor woodruff . keep up the good work and we'll all be on heroin.

He's not a legit heroin dealer. It was a one time thing. So if you had sex once it makes you a slut? This headline is misleading. It makes you ASSume he's a dealer but he's not. He's an idiot don't get me wrong but you're far from perfect too. He's not a bad kid.

If you're a girl in high school, Yes to the sex one time = slut reference. And as for your 'he's not a bad kid'...c'mon, a slut's a slut.

Oh so only girls can be sluts even if they have sex with one guy who is their boyfriend but guys who have sex all the time with multiple people is not a slut? Double standard.... You're an idiot.

Hehe. ..I love getting the little people fired up! Sounds like someone had a difficult time socializing back in the day. I was simply making a sarcastic point about your tree - hugging comment. Simmer down, sunshine.

hey another plea deal good job

He was more than one time dealer. I know he worked alot at a good job and had a good work ethic. I don't know him personally, I do know a person who has a serious drug problem that he did deal with. he would stop at seven eight o'clock in the morning and deliver the product to this person as he is going to work. even accepting post dated checks from this persons mother. Trading items an even trade for sexual favors. You don't get to be a target of a drug sting if your not selling.

@awesome your right I'm far from perfect, and I have done some really dumb things in my life. But I'm proud to say I have never intentionally or unintentionally sold potential death to someone, I as well as other can only hope he learns a lesson from this considering he seems to not be getting much of a punishment out of it.
