Defendants arraigned on separate charges

Two defendants made their first appearances Tuesday in Huron County Common Pleas Court.

Katie M. Collins, 32, of 223 1/2 Woodbine St. (upstairs), Willard, and Norwalk resident Gia L. Guerra, 42, of 1420 Ohio 61, entered "not guilty" pleas to their respective fifth-degree felonies.

Collins is charged with complicity to theft in connection with a Jan. 23 incident. She earlier posted a $5,000 bond and is prohibited from having any association with the victim and can't be on a West Pearl Street, premises.

Her trial date is July 17.

Guerra goes to trial July 10 on one count each of possession of oxycodone and possession of hydromorphone, both in connection with a Nov. 16 incident.

She also is out on a $5,000 bond and is subject to random drug screens.

Each defendant said they don't have any prior felony convictions and aren't on probation now.
