A Sandusky man is accused of breaking his girlfriend's nose during an argument last year.

Shawn K. Smith, 34, is charged with felonious assault in connection with a Feb. 19, 2013 incident on Palmer Road near New London. The Huron County Sheriff's Office handled the case.

"The victim's age is 40," Norwalk Law Director Stuart O'Hara said. "The defendant is the boyfriend of the victim."

After the argument, the victim went to the hospital. O'Hara said the woman had a broken nose and a gash on her nose which required several stitches.

"We didn't find out about it until (Thursday) when (deputies) responded to another domestic violence complaint. There was another domestic violence incident involving the same two parties," O'Hara said.

Smith was arrested and transported to the Huron County Jail.
