Two local drivers hit the same deer during the same crash this weekend.

Michael E. Ritz, 59, of 3909 Hartland Center Road, Collins, was southbound on Ohio 60 in Clarksfield Township while Thomas E. Laser, 45, of 365 S. Ohio 60, New London, was northbound before the crash at 5:40 a.m. Friday.

The deer entered the road from the east side and was hit by Ritz's vehicle, said troopers with the state Highway Patrol. The deer slid into the northbound lane in front of Laser and was hit by his vehicle.

Both vehicles stopped off the right side of the southbound lane. Each one sustained functional damage, but weren't towed from the scene.
