The inspector general has issued a report of investigation finding wrongful conduct at the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal.

The investigation looked at two separate allegations provided in an anonymous complaint.

The inspector general investigation substantiated the first allegation and found the state fire academy dormitory facilities had been used as overnight accommodations for a significant number of nights by two employees.

In a second allegation, the anonymous complainant accused a ranking state fire marshal employee of collecting pay from the state of Ohio for times when the employee was not at work. However, the investigation found the evidence did not support the allegation.

The report of investigation has been forwarded to the Ohio Ethics Commission and the Licking County Prosecuting Attorney for further consideration.
