A Cleveland man is being held at the Richland County Jail after troopers spotted him driving a stolen 1992 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up.
At 8:48 a.m. Wedneday, troopers were notified by the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office of a stolen pick-up truck from the Upper Sandusky area. The vehicle was believed to be traveling east on U.S.30 from their city.
At 9:11 a.m., troopers spotted the stolen truck entering Interstate 71 northbound from U.S. 30. The vehicle initially pulled over, but fled before troopers could make contact with the driver. The stolen vehicle continued north through Ashland, Wayne and Medina counties before troopers were able to deploy stop sticks deflating the tires and forcing the vehicle to a stop. The driver fled the vehicle on foot, crossed the southbound lanes of I-71 before he was apprehended.
Jerry L. Key, 51 of Cleveland, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing and eluding as well as numerous other traffic violations.
