Cause of death pending

The body of a Norwalk man found in a burned-out vehicle late Thursday on Jacobs Road has been identified.

Huron County Coroner Dr. Jeffrey Harwood said the man, David Collins, 26, of 51 Milan Ave., Apt. A, was identified through dental records.

“The cause of death still is pending,” Harwood said. “We’re waiting on the results of the toxicology report and autopsy. It still appears to be a suicide.”

Emergency responders were called to the Jacobs Road location in Ridgefield Township just after 9 p.m. due to the report of a vehicle fire.

Sad news for friends and family to hear but I am sure Facebook posts already determined the victim yesterday which is terrible to say the least.

Just met this mans brother. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I can't imagine committing suicide in this manner...

JACKEL

I agree, but if you reach this point of depression you sure aren't thinking clearly. Most women use a less painful manner, such as sleeping away. That would be my choice.

hambone

Oh? What manner do you imagine?

Cosgirl0821

Why would he burn his body? Sounds like a cover up to me.

My condolences to the Collins family.

Yea most people that attempt this route end up outside of the car. They realize that the pain is to much to handle. Unless he died right before he was set on fire. Odd and sad to say the least. I knew him a while back. Didn't seem the type to do this but that's usually how it goes. Heart goes out to his family and friends.

Hypocrisy

My sincere condolences to all the family and friends. I`M sorry to say but this is very peculiar. I think there is foul play at work here.

my deepest sympathy to this mans family and friends. I am concerned though, that this is the second incident, out in the same area, where it was declared to be a suicide, and being in the rear compartment of a burning vehicle... something does not seem to add up to me. I understand that people get depressed, I understand that people want to end it all, but to sit inside a vehicle that you, yourself set on fire, seems unthinkable for one person to do it, let alone two???I hope that this is investigated thoroughly, and that all of the facts, no matter how seemingly insignificant , are studied and that the truth is what is the final declaration...if it really was a suicide, I hope that you are finding the peace that you sought.

Right that's what I'm saying. It doesn't seem right to drive out to a country road, climb in the back of your car and then light yourself on fire. Seems kinda odd.

CSI: Huron County

I think everyone has seen one too many movies.

Didn't a woman die the exact same way as this not too long ago? Did that ever get straightened out?

earlduck

I'm sure some people know if these are suicide or not,but an explosion and fire would be a perfect way to cover up murder,I believe this is the third time around norwalk

humpty_dumpty

Not accuseing anyone but does anyone know if this guy used drugs or if the other person who died same way used drugs??? Heres why i ask i agree suicide to me dont add up again im not accuseing im asking wondering if could owed a drug eebt etc and someone took his life covered it up.

I didnt know this guy, but the woman this happened too last yr, was a drug addict, it's does seem strange that this has happened again in the same area.........

WATCHED_1s

Well he did hang out with junkies a couple years ago. Not saying for sure he did it. But it could have been an overdose and the people he was with tried covering their tracks by burning everything that would trace it to them. Not trying to stir anything up just throwing a thought out there.
