Jessica Renee Schafer, a 2005 graduate of Monroeville High School and a second-year student at The Ohio State University will be participating in the Brazil Study Abroad Program through Alpha Zeta Partners (AZP) for Winter 2007. She was among 20 students selected into AZP based on her academic performance, leadership potential/accomplishments, character, community service and diversity. AZP is a national professional agriculture and natural resources honorary which focuses on leadership development. In Brazil, she will be participating in International Studies that will explore historical, institutional and leadership perspectives in regards to agriculture in the South American society.
Jessica is majoring in plant health management with a minor in horticulture and business. She is a member of Alpha Xi Delta, which encourages service to others through the philanthropic initiative, Choose Children. She is the daughter of Dave and Barb Schafer of Monroeville.
Ten local residents participated in a special pinning ceremony in conjunction with their recent graduation with associate of applied science degrees in respiratory care technology at the Cedar Point Center at BGSU Firelands. They are: Debbie Abicht of LaGrange; Jessica Brant of Norwalk; Amanda Cloud of Bellevue; Megan Dixon of Elyria; April Hicks of Sandusky; Megan Jacobson of North Ridgeville; Kara Klein of Huron; Deb Klotz of Clyde; Courtney Laurer of Fremont; and Jeff Wilson of Norwalk.
Amy Lynn Cornoyer, of Norwalk received a bachelor of science in English education Dec. 16 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
The academic dean of the MedCentral College of Nursing in Mansfield announced that the following local students met the requirements for the autumn quarter dean's list: Dayna Nelson of Greenwich; Leah Dunn of Plymouth; and Brianna Korbas and Melissa Shepherd, both of Shelby.
Students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher to be on the dean's list.
