A Norwalk man was convicted of attempted burglary Tuesday.
Cameron M. Bays, 26, of 6 Third St., will be sentenced April 3. He faces six to 18 months behind bars on the fourth-degree felony.
The state has agreed to recommend a community control sanction," Huron County Assistant Prosecutor Richard Woodruff said at Tuesday's hearing.
"He's presently employed, which is good. If he qualifies for the work release, we would be in favor of that," he added.
Huron County Public Defender David Longo said Bays possibly is on "non-reporting misdemeanor probation."
The defendant's felony conviction is for an Aug. 19 incident. Woodruff said Bays attempted to trespass at a Valley Park Drive residence by cutting the screen out of a window.
"He became scared and ran way," Woodruff said.
Later, Bays admitted to the Norwalk Police Department he intended to burglarize the residence and look for some cash, he added.
Bays remains out on a $10,000 bond.
