Car hits utility pole, closes road

Driver charged with DUI.

The Sandusky post of the state Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 6:45 p.m. Friday on Bogart Road near Ransom Road in Erie County.

Seth A. Bordner, 33, of Sandusky was driving a 2007 Pontiac G6 east on Bogart Road when he drove off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole, troopers said. The crash broke the pole into three pieces and knocked out power for several homes in the immediate area.

Bordner was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center by Perkins Township EMS with no reported injuries. He appears to have been wearing his seat belt at the

Alcohol is a factor in the crash, and the driver was charged with failure to control and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, troopers said.

The Pontiac sustained severe front end damage and was towed.

Bogart Road was closed between Normandy Court and Lake Wilmer indefinitely until Ohio Edison Power Co. crews could restore elecriticy in the area.

The crash is still under investigation.
