UPDATE: Closings, delays announced

Due to the weather, Citizens Bank has announced the following branches will closed today, Wednesday, Feb. 5: Berlin Heights, Port Clinton, Sandusky( East Perkins Office), Norwalk (Milan Avenue Office), Greenwich, Plymouth, Shiloh and Willard. Citizens Bank originally planned to open those branches at 10 a.m.

Bellevue Public Library will be closed today due to weather and road conditions. The library previously announced it would open at the delayed start of noon.

Republic Services will not be collecting waste today due to severe weather conditions. Republic customers throughout the metro Toledo and Sandusky areas will experience a one-day delay in waste collection for the remainder of this week. Republic’s trucks hit the streets Wednesday morning, but after several snow-related issues, the company postponed today’s collection for the safety of its employees and the public. Republic will resume collection on Thursday. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday customers will experience a one-day delay this week. Regular collection schedules will resume next Monday, Feb. 10. This impacts residents in Norwalk, Toledo, Sylvania, Maumee, Swanton, Monclova Township, Sandusky, Port Clinton, Catawba Island, Oak Harbor and Carroll Township. Subscription customers in Perrysburg Township, Sylvania Township, Springfield Township, Washington Township and Monroe County, Mich. are also affected. This does not apply to Norwalk residents who are served by the city-run sanitation department.

Huron County offices in uptown Norwalk, including the courts, treasurer, recorder, and auditor will close at 2:30 p.m.

More businesses should close so that road crews have more space to clear snow, and police have less idiot drivers to respond to.
