The Level 2 snow emergency issued by Huron County Sheriff Dane Howard has been lowered to a Level 1.

In Ohio, there are three levels of snow emergency, with a Level 1 being the mildest. Here are the definitions of the three levels:

Level 1 - Roadways are hazardous due to accumulated snow or ice. Drive cautiously.

Level 2 - Roadways are hazardous due to blowing and drifting snow and/or ice cover. Only those who believe it is necessary to drive should be on the roadways. Contact your employer to determine if you should report to work.

Level 3 - Roadways are closed to all non-emergency travel due to extremely hazardous conditions. No one should be on the roadway unless it is absolutely essential to travel. Those operating vehicles on the roadway for non-emergency reasons may be subject to arrest.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland said a wind chill advisory may be needed tonight and Friday night for Huron County and the surrounding areas. Another surge of Arctic air will cause wind chill values to fall to minus 15 to minus 20 degrees tonight, and lower than minus 10 degrees Friday night.

The parking ban that had been in effect for the entire city of Norwalk has been removed, Bob Patusky, city safety-service director, announced Thursday morning.

City of Norwalk officials reminds residents and property owners of premises located in city limits must make their front, sides and rear sidewalks safe for travel within 12 hours after a snow event ends. Failure to comply may result in a citation for a minor misdemeanor. Any such violation shall constitute a separate offense on each successive day continued.

The snow will stick around for a while because the temperatures won't rise above freezing any time soon.

Thursday will be partly sunny and cold, with a high near 17 and a low around 2. Friday will be mostly cloudy and cold, with a high near 17, a low about 7 and a 30 percent chance of snow.

Another snow storm is expected to hit the area this weekend, although forecasters now are saying the Huron County area might escape significant snowfall.

Sounds good

the property owners who have rental units in town and out of town ( near an old school) really should spend some of their riches to plow and salt their complexes parking lots and walks so their tenants aren't risking a fall. A lawsuit is much more expensive if someone falls and gets hurt.

hahahahahahahahahaha right

I don't have time to clear my tenants sidewalks? I've got to get caught up on my back episodes of 'The View' with the 60 inch flat screen T.V. I just bought. Sheesh!

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to successfully sue a landlord for "falling" on the property a tenent rents...Because of that, you can't get a lawyer to take such a case, unless, you're paying them out of pocket.

Are we at a Level 1 yet? :)

Whiskey Tango F...

Code red, level 2, defcon 4. Gather the women and children. Probably ought to cancel school now. It finally dawned on me why they never used to cancel school...
1. We owned and wore a coat
2. We wore socks, gloves, and hats
3. We pulled our pants up and wore belts
4. Our parents weren't looking for the next cheap lawsuit
5. It used to be okay if it was cold and snowy in northern ohio.

If Minnesota and Wisconsin followed our lead they would only have summer school!

can't wait :)

I'm so tired of the snow. And I feel bad having to watch my husband shovel while I'm nice and toasty inside lol! He even shovels the grass for the dogs because they won't walk in the snow. Such a good man. But for real...I hope this is the last big one!

"Snow?? SMH!! In Ohio??? OMG!!! In February??!! FML!!"

Are you kidding me? We aren't getting sh&*! Come on! Get real!

Why is there not a noise law for snow blowing at 5:30 in the morning? I am sure you could not mow lawn at that time. It is not like you can't get thru the snow. Can't get much more inconsiderate than this.

If he needs to leave for work early, he needs to be able to get out. The joys of living in town with neighbors sitting on top of one another. But hey, if you need milk and bread your close enough to walk.

Gibsonburg likes to have the street sweeper out at 4:30 AM ......try to complain about that!!! It makes your whole house rattle! The hum is maddening! It is rather asinine as well because everyone is at home, in bed and parked IN THE STREET!!!! duh!

Fibber Mcgee

When would you like them to start? I have a neighbor that starts about the same time, I know he has to get to his job, plus he hits my sidewalk as well, so I don't mind. Even if he didn't, it's still ok, I know he has to work.

Apparently after the hangover goes away? Lol

That would be never for him.

Well that is crazy at that time. 7 would be good especially when he is not working. Kids sure don't need awake at that time. That is just rude. Maybe some kid should have their boom box going at that time. I bet that is unacceptable. We all need to do drives and walks but that is just to early.

Fibber Mcgee

Now the other neighbor is out, hello, I might as well start mine.

just looked out the window to see this apocalyptic snow fall. I can still see the foot tracks from the ups guy from Monday, my back steps have a inch or two. I have no intentions of plowing out my drive before leaving in my compact car. And we are in a level 2 snow emergency? This is ohio folks and it's winter. Seems the past few years of not having winter and everyone forgets what's it's all about.

jeeze people will fight over everything these days... SMH

Brock Lee

my shuvel doent make no noise sicka usin it tho

Cliff Cannon

Oh for heavens sake Brock. How could anyone not like shoveling snow ?

Brock Lee

I went to bed at about 1:00am and the sherif calls a level 2 at midnight..then why the BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP wait till 5:00 to call school off... I could careless if the kids go to school or not it's the 5:00 am wake up call when I don't have to be up till 7 and I'm not the fall back to sleep kind of person once I get out of bed to tell the kids school has been cancelled...then the dogs hear you are up so you let them out...ggggggrrrrrrr well I'm awake now really mr stupidintendent every school cancelled yesterday Norwalk was the only one to WAIT...REALLY!!!!

Scranton Tibbs

Maybe they should discontinue the call service since it's cutting into your sleep schedule. Go back to doing it the old way. YOU get outta bed and check the radio/tv to see if there is school. More like Lawyerintrainingpants. Waaaaaa they woke me up! Be responsible for your own kids and quit complaining.

Why I'm fortunate to be here in the country. Way to many whiny people. Enjoy hearing an occasional snowmobile, chainsaw, or gunshot. "God made country man made town." W.S. The cold purifies.
