A 10-year-old Shiloh girl died Thursday night following a one-vehicle rollover crash on Ohio 603.

The fatal crash occurred east of Willet Road in Cass Township.

Jennifer Schrank, 29, of Shiloh, was driving west on Ohio 603 in a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina at 10:24 p.m. when she attempted to pass a vehicle and lost control, according to troopers with the Mansfield post of the state Highway Patrol. Her vehicle went off the right side of the road, struck a utility pole and overturned several times.

A passenger, Danielle Bailey, 10, of Shiloh, was ejected in the crash, troopers said. She was pronounced dead at MedCentral/Shelby Hospital at 11:05 p.m., according to the Richland County Coroner's Office.

Schrank and another passenger, Brooke Bailey, 6, were taken to the Shelby hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries, troopers said.

Although roads may appear to be clear, conditions can change rapidly, especially in rural areas where blowing snow can create slippery surfaces, troopers said. Drivers are reminded to make sure all passengers wear seatbelts.

This is the second fatal crash in Richland County this year.

Danielle Bailey was a fifth-grader at Plymouth-Shiloh Elementary, where she made the merit roll for the second nine weeks.

What a horrible tragedy. Praying for the family.

Such a tragedy... prayers go out to the family.

I am so sorry for this family's loss. People need to slow down. Everyone seems to be in such a hurry to get to their destination. Unless their road conditions were different than ours, why did she think it was safe to pass at all.

Its truly a tragedy. Two questions. Was she buckled, I didn't see that in the story. Also, the paper makes it seem more of a tragedy because she was a merit roll student. I think not.

Stevie Renee

I believe all they were stating about her being on the merit roll at school was what she accomplished in her all to short life. Example-"Worked at Ford, Was a Nurse. " Prayers to family!

RIP baby girl♡ my heart breaks for her family

It is a tragedy. They were wearing their seat belts. With black ice, its difficult to judge the road conditions. Does it make it any less of a tragedy because she was a merit roll student? Regardless of your opinion on that. A 10 year old girl has died. It is a huge loss for the family.

Very sad for the family. I can't imagine how devastating this would be. All that is needed for this family are kind thoughts and understanding during this tragic time. It is not the place for anyone to second guess why this happened or to play the "what if" game. The bottom line is accidents happen and unfortunately a beautiful little girl lost her life. Please keep the family in your thoughts and remember this could have been any one of our daughters, granddaughters, niece, or sister.

Anyone that wishes to donate toward her funeral expenses, please feel free to stop by her fundraising website, link below. Every dollar will help to put this sweet little angel to rest.

Seen it All

I would like to know if there is a legit place to donate to this family. I will not give to a generic website. Could someone at the Reflector look into this and report back. Thanks.

See above comment for the link. A donation site was established to meet final expenses. The site is legit, and the site manager is the victim's aunt.

Re: "legit place to donate to this family."

Perhaps donate through the funeral home?

How tragic.

Nothing I can conceive of, could be a worse nightmare for a parent, than out living a child. So on behalf of my wife; may we extend our deepest sympathies on this unspeakable loss.

Here's hoping the link " terirose22 " provided, will help all those wishing to help in this dreadful hour of need, the chance to do so.

P.S. Jennifer Schrank who was driving. Please, never forget young lady; mankind call's 'accidents' , 'accidents' for a reason. Our prayers are with you too.
