Troopers with the state Highway Patrol's Fremont post are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred at 9:40 p.m. Sunday on County Road 201, about three-tenths of a mile west of Tiffin Road in Sandusky County's Ballville Township.
Javon McDonald, 16, of Fremont, was driving a 2006 Ford Fusion east on County Road 201, traveling too fast for the road conditions, troopers said. The vehicle traveled off the north side of the roadway into a field, where it overturned, ejecting two passengers before coming to final rest.
McDonald was transported by Sandusky County EMS from the scene to Fremont Memorial Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Seatbelt use is unknown at this time, troopers said.
Three teen passengers, all from Fremont, also were injured in the crash.
Savhana Cousins, 15, was flown by St. Vincent’s air ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo with incapacitating injuries. She was wearing her safety belt at the time of the crash.
Drake Brown, 18, was transported by Sandusky County EMS from the scene with incapacitating injuries to Fremont Memorial Hospital. He was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Janell Raby, 15, was transported by Sandusky County EMS from the scene with incapacitating injuries to Fremont Memorial Hospital. She, too, was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Agencies assisting troopers at the scene included the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Department, Ballville Township Fire Department and EMS, Sandusky County EMS, St. Vincent LifeFlight and Madison’s Towing.
The crash is still under investigation and alcohol in not suspected, troopers said.
