A North Fairfield driver refused to submit to any sobriety tests after he reportedly left the scene of a recent crash investigated by the state Highway Patrol.

Cody N. Fidler, 29, of 349 Edwards Road, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to control in connection with the accident that happened at 11:20 p.m. Saturday.

Fidler was eastbound on Sherman Norwich Road when he hit a bridge guardrail, went off the left side and hit ditch, troopers said. The driver is accused of then leaving the scene of the accident.

The suspect has a prior DUI conviction from 2004, troopers said.
