Janet Broz has spent the last 16 years on the Norwalk City Schools board of education serving others.

In her next life, she will be dealing with the schools from the other side of the fence -- as a parent.

Broz served four terms on the board of education but was not re-elected in November. For most people in that situation, it would be time to step back, take a deep breath, and move on. But for Broz and her husband, Ken, the clock is starting over. The two have custody of their two grandsons, Hayden, 5, and Landon, 2, so time on the PTO could be in Janet's future.

"I think the good Lord has blessed Ken and I with good health and that helps," she said. "The boys are doing great and we will focus on their well-being."

My husband and I do the same thing as you guys, and even though it seems harder than it was when ours were little, the good far outweighs the bad. We love it. The only bad part is dealing with the birth parents. Good luck, and thank you for giving the children a chance at a good life full of love.

This is need because they are public employees. I will say that I highly respect this couple! They are both loved and respected by those who know them. I pray God blesses them richly for what they do, and the example they set. They were the only 2 educators that came to my daughter's graduation celebration. Bless you both.

Great job! They are both stand up people! Ken and Janet are good grandparents. Well done!
