UPDATE - Flood warning issued

Heavy rainfall continues to spread across the region.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a flood warning for Huron County and the surrounding areas until Sunday afternoon.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR RAIN AND MELTING SNOW IN
ERIE...LORAIN...HURON AND NORTHERN ASHLAND COUNTIES IN NORTH CENTRAL
OHIO...AND ASHTABULA...SOUTHERN LAKE...GEAUGA AND CUYAHOGA COUNTIES
IN NORTHEAST OHIO...AND SANDUSKY...OTTAWA...LUCAS...WOOD...SENECA AND
HANCOCK COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST OHIO...AND ERIE AND CRAWFORD COUNTIES
IN NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA UNTIL 315 PM EST SUNDAY...

AT 905 PM EST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
LARGE AREA OF RAIN FROM NORTHWEST OHIO SOUTHWARD TO SOUTHERN
INDIANA. ALL OF THIS RAIN WAS MOVING TO THE EAST NORTHEAST AT
50 MPH. RAINFALL AMOUNTS SINCE 4 PM HAVE RANGED FROM A TENTH TO A
QUARTER OF AN INCH TO AS HIGH AS THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH. HOWEVER
HEAVIER RAINFALL WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE REGION WITH ADDITIONAL
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF THREE QUARTERS TO ONE AND HALF INCHES. THERE MAY
BE SOME LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS IF ANY THUNDER IS OBSERVED.

SHOWERS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE ACROSS THE WARNED
AREA. RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING TO
OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...
ASHTABULA...BOWLING GREEN...CHARDON...CLEVELAND...CLYDE...CUSTAR...
ELMORE...ELYRIA...ERIE ...FINDLAY...FITCHVILLE...FOSTORIA...
FREMONT...JEFFERSON...MEADVILLE...NORWALK...PORT CLINTON...
SANDUSKY...STRONGSVILLE...SYLVANIA...TIFFIN...TOLEDO...
WATERVILLE... ALBION...AMHERST...ANDOVER...ARCADIA...ARLINGTON...
BELLEVUE AND BLOOMVILLE.

SOME MINOR FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS HAS BEEN REPORTED. THERE WAS
A REPORT OF WATER ACROSS US HIGHWAY 224 TO THE SOUTHEAST OF TIFFIN
IN SENECA COUNTY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF DRIVING...SLOW DOWN! BE ALERT FOR LOW
SPOTS...DIPS...AND UNDERPASSES WHICH MAY BE FLOODED. PEOPLE IN LOW
LYING AREAS ALONG CREEKS AND STREAMS SHOULD MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO
ESCAPE RISING WATER LEVELS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. TURN AROUND...DON`T DROWN!
