City Manager Brian Humphress has hired Susan Johnson to replace finance director Jody Wagoner, who has resigned from the position to take another job.
It may be the last vacancy the city fills -- at least in the near future -- the city manager said.
"As with the other recent vacancies, we will not be backfilling the assistant finance director position at this time," Humphress said, referring to Johnson's previous position. "Due to our financial difficulties, we will not be filling positions until we know we have the funds to pay for those as well as current positions in city employment. Given that situation, I don't expect to be filing any vacant positions soon, and if revenues don't improve I may be forced to create new vacancies. As always, I will keep council posted as to our hiring practices as the situation changes."
Johnson had been the assistant finance director for 12 years and filled in as acting finance director since Wagoner's departure.
