A Bellevue man accused of stealing a "dangerous drug" was arraigned Wednesday in Huron County Common Pleas Court.
Chad A. Pelton, 30, of 525 E. Main St., is charged with receiving stolen property in connection with a Sept. 17 incident. If convicted of the fifth-degree felony, he faces six to 12 months behind bars.
Pelton pleaded "not guilty" to the charge Wednesday. He had the opportunity to be arraigned Monday with Huron County Public Defender David Longo handling the arraignment as a courtesy for defense attorney Ben Chapman, but the defendant told the court he preferred to have Chapman handle the proceeding.
If Pelton posts a $5,000 bond, he is subject to random drug screens. His trial date is Jan. 7.
