HIGHWAY PATROL Ronald Ruff, 48, of 2560 Niver Road, Willard, was charged with failure to follow the rules about passing vehicles and driving under the influence Tuesday in the Ohio 61 collision with he vehicle driven by Steven A. Leonard, 17, of 532 Park St., Willard. Leonard attempted to turn left onto Skinner Road and when Ruff attempted to pass him heading south, he hit Leonard's car on the left side.

HIGHWAY PATROL

NORWALK FIRE

Assisted North Central EMS with lifting and loading a patient at 10:40 a.m. Thursday at 402 Old State Road and later at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. Returned to station at 10:52.

Found no trace of a natural gas odor during an investigation at 5:11 p.m. Thursday at 36 Executive Drive. Returned to station at 5:27.

Determined an odor came from an overheated furnace motor at 11:33 p.m. Thursday at 265 W. Main St. Returned to station at 11:53.

NORWALK POLICE

Peggy S. Platte, 43, whose address was unavailable, was charged with disorderly conduct in connection with a a North Prospect Street fight Thursday.

A Whittlesey Avenue business employee reported having a female juvenile suspect in custody in connection with shoplifting Thursday. Police forwarded a report to the Huron County Prosecutor’s office and Huron County Juvenile Court.

A Townsend Avenue resident reported a suspected burglary Thursday.

The driver’s side of a female area motorist’s 2005 Chevrolet sustained moderate damage Thursday when a tractor-trailer hit it while turning right into the driveway of Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

Shawn E. Rising, 34, of Wooster, was arrested on a warrant Thursday and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was released later that day from the Huron County Jail.

Erin E. Alge, 35, whose address was unavailable, was charged with disorderly conduct in connection with a West Main Street incident today and later released her to a sober person.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Dispatchers were advised of alarm activations Thursday on: West Ohio 162, Monroeville; Lincoln Road, Wakeman; and Edwards Road, Greenwich.

Dispatched North Central EMS, the Huron River Joint Fire District, state Highway Patrol and a deputy to a North Ohio 99, Monroeville, accident Thursday.

A Prospect Road, New London, resident reported his neighbors sent his unruly daughter home, but she didn’t return Thursday.

A Rome Greenwich Road, New London, resident reported a domestic dispute Thursday.

A South Peru Center Road, Willard, resident reported missing some money after someone forced their way into the home Thursday. About 2 1/2 hours later, dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about suspected prowlers at the same address.

A Pleasant Street, Willard, resident reported being threatened Thursday.
