A Norwalk man arrested Tuesday on gross sexual imposition charges is prohibited from having any association with anyone under the age of 18 once he posts bail.

Robert Miller, 37, of 18 1/2 S. Garden St., must post a bond totaling $75,000 before being released from the Huron County Jail on the three third-degree felonies. If convicted, he could be sentenced to one to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000 on each local charge.

“Federal charges are pending on him,” Norwalk Police Detective Sgt. Todd Temple said.

Norwalk Assistant Law Director T. Douglas Clifford said the no-association order doesn’t include immediate family members.

“The alleged victim is not a family member,” Clifford said.

Police arrested Miller at his home about 3 p.m. Tuesday. Temple said Norwalk detectives had been doing a joint investigation with the U.S. Postal Service for a couple weeks when they seized a “sizable amount” of child pornography Jan. 17.

Miller is accused of sexually abusing several children in the Norwalk area, the detective said.

“We have one 10-year-old (female) victim we know for sure,” he added.

Miller also bought pornographic videos and other paraphernalia through the Internet, Detective Sgt. Jim Fulton said, and “may have been trading it with others.” Fulton said the suspect has no prior convictions.

Authorities don’t know how many possible victims there are.

“There are numerous photographs, so we don’t know,” Fulton said. “We know some of these were taken locally.”

Temple was asked about what, if anything, Miller said about the allegations when he was arrested.

“I can’t release details of the investigation,” the detective said.

There currently are no other suspects in the ongoing investigation in which “numerous people” have been interviewed.

“We are still looking for victims,” Temple quickly added.
