Airport board member calls timing of complaint, 'quizzical,' 'curious'

Complaints are just an example of the Friends group entering the realm of local politics, board member says.

A Huron County Airport Authority board member offered a spirited response to a recent complaint filed by an airport support group with the Federal Aviation Administration.

Carl Essex, airport board member, said he found the timing "quizzical" and "curious" when asked about the complaint submitted by the Friends of the Huron County Airport group.

The complaint focuses on areas of the runway and taxiways.

Essex said these complaints are just an example of the Friends group entering the realm of local politics.

Essex, you are one to complain about politics?
You could teach Obama how to talk for hours and never say anything honest.
Dennis Sokol Did everything he could to keep up the airport and for three years sent grant applications to the commissioners who are the ones who have stood in the way of getting things done.
They put you on the board to further they personal agenda to sell the airport to their buddy Bader.
I have personally had the experience of talking to you and listening to you spin your words. I've seen fewer turns and twists in a gymnastics routine. Yet with all that not one single point of truth.
You even stood at the board meeting earlier this year and told everyone there that the apron next to the big hanger was going to be resurfaced by july, Why Hasn't it been done yet? That is on you Essex, how will you twist off that hook?

FTFOI

propman, No disrespect intended, but Carl did resurface the pad. He sent out county workers to blow it off with a leaf blower. Then scrub it down and rinse. Pad resurfaced. He did not say with what he would resurface with..

propman

Cleaning it is NOT resurfacing, nor is sealing it (which you do not state as being done)
Resurfacing is needed and it is what Essex said was going to be done, by the way WITH ODOT GRANTS!
This was after the commissioners and one board member allowed the concrete company store large heavy precast bridge panels on the area. With the trucks bringing them in tearing up the apron.
When the FAA found out were they were storing those panels they demanded the immediate removal of them for the hazard they created.

2sense

Seems some have their own personal agendas none of which benefit the taxpayers.

propman

You are right on that.
Look to the commissioners and Essex and you'll see the ones who are hurting the public.

methodman

How so?

propman

Trying to sell off a public asset to a private company (personal friend) when they are required to maintain that asset under agreements with the FAA contract signed by the commissioners.
If they did close it to sell then they (the county) are required to repay the grants already used.
Closing it is the same as ripping up a highway interchange.
How many communities disappeared when they didn't get a railroad through or when the interstate highway didn't come by or have an entry/exit put in for them?

methodman

Sounds like the movie "Cars".

Ralph Wiggum

You're right. It's called children's comedic fiction and they shovel it by the ton.

propman

Essez, you move infantile stories every time you open your mouth.
You spew some much manure I'm surprised the whole county isn't under 6 feet of it.
If it was worth anything this county would feed the whole world.

Ralph Wiggum

You know when you fail at spelling and grammar, you automatically fail at sarcasm?

propman

Who says that was sarcasm?

Ralph Wiggum

At least no one can question your grammar and spelling failures.

propman

You may want to check your dictionary Essex.
When I do misspell the checker catches it on this computer.

Ralph Wiggum

Really? Did you buy this computer in "july"?

propman

Thanks Ralph for showing you can not argue the facts of the issue and have to resort to griping about spelling.
And even then you are wrong about the spelling too.
That is why it is good to see you here again. You have been a great assistant to making my points.

KURTje

Let this make it on its own...no more tax $$.

propman

Fine, we'll do that with the roads and bridges too.
KURTje, that statement is as valid as your's.

propman

Hey KURTje, how can it have a chance to make it on it's own when the commissioners withhold funds derived from the airport property?
Which by the way they are obligated to turn any such funds over to the airport and have refused to do so.

Windy

A wise businessman would not put someone on his board who knows nothing about the business. What genius put Essex on the airport board? He can't even pay his own property taxes. Civil disobedience my foot. He just got caught. And now the NR prints this blowhard's opinion? Good grief! Is this journalism or propaganda?
