HIGHWAY PATROL n Gerald J. Chislow, 63, of 6775 Cook Road, New London, was charged with going left of center in the Butler Road collision Wednesday with the vehicle driven by Graeme G. Frith, 51, of 168 New London Ave., New London. Chislow attempted to pass Frith and sideswiped the left side of Frith's Chevrolet Lumina.

HIGHWAY PATROL

n Gerald J. Chislow, 63, of 6775 Cook Road, New London, was charged with going left of center  in the Butler Road collision Wednesday with the vehicle driven by Graeme G. Frith, 51, of 168 New London Ave., New London. Chislow attempted to pass Frith and sideswiped the left side of Frith’s Chevrolet Lumina.

n Rodger L. Mussell, 51, of Lorain, was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance Sunday after he hit the rear of the vehicle driven by Jordan S. Cantrell, 20, of Gibsonburg, on U.S. 250. Mussell swerved to avoid hitting Cantrell, who was slowing for traffic ahead, and hit Cantrell’s car on the right side.

NORWALK FIRE

n Assisted North Central EMS with a patient involved in a motor vehicle accident on Whittlesey Avenue at 11:34 a.m. Friday. Returned to station at 11:57.

n Assisted North Central EMS with a patient on Jefferson Street at 7:31 p.m. Friday. The crew left the station Returned to station at 7:48.

n Assisted police to handle telephone wires down at the intersection of League Street and Milan Avenue at 1:50 p.m. Friday. Returned to station at 1:55 p.m.

n Assisted North Central EMS with a patient on Spring Street at 4:49 a.m. Saturday. Returned to station at 4:55.

n Assisted North Central EMS with a patient on Bouscay Avenue at 10:32 p.m. Saturday. Returned to station at 10:37.

n Assisted North Central EMS with a patient on Republic Street at 6:29 p.m. Saturday. Returned to station at 6:40 p.m.

n Responded to a fire on a stove at 10:08 p.m. Sunday at 41 1/2 Fruen St. Returned to station at 10:30.

n Assisted North Central EMS with a State Street patient at 9:31 a.m. Sunday. Returned to station at 9:37.

n Responded to a 5236 Plank Road house fire at 5:38 a.m. Monday. The crew extinguished the fire and returned to the station at 7:45.

n Assisted North Central EMS with getting a patient into the ambulance at 1:17 p.m. Monday at 7 Manahan Ave. Returned to station at 1:24.

n Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 2:03 p.m. Monday at 17 Seminary St. Returned to station at 2:05.

n Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 6:12 p.m. Monday at 80 E. Main St. Returned to station at 6:22.

NORWALK POLICE

n Gloria Beck, 76, of Monroeville, was charged with a red light violation Friday, in the collision with the truck driven by Peter J. Schlacter, 55, of Norwalk. After the collision, Beck’s car hit the front of a Whittlesey Avenue business.

n Joshua McFadden, 20, whose address was unavailable, was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance Friday after he hit the rear of the vehicle driven by Donald Embree, 52, of North Canton.

n Jerrod Gilbert, 27, whose address was unavailable, was arrested on a warrant Saturday. He was released later that day from the Huron County Jail.

n Jason P. Jackson, 22, of 15 Jackson St., Monroeville, was arrested on three contempt of court warrants Saturday. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

n Melissa J. Wilver, 31, whose address was unavailable, was arrested on a passing bad checks charge and was released Saturday.

n Jeremy S. Maynard, whose age and address was unavailable, was arrested on five Huron Municipal Court warrants Saturday and transferred to the Huron Police Department.

n A North Hester Street resident reported the theft of bicycle Saturday.

n Investigated an assault Saturday on East League Street.

n Sheila A. McDonald, 48, whose address was unavailable, was arrested on two warrants Saturday and released.

n Christopher McDaniel, 35, of 45 Linwood Ave., was issued a summons Saturday and charged with persistent disorderly conduct.

n Put a club on a vehicle at a St. Mary’s Street business Saturday.

n Investigated theft of medicine of a person who was incarcerated at the Huron County Jail on Saturday.

n Calvin Brown, 51, of Sandusky, was arrested on five warrants Saturday and charged with failure to pay fines and costs. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

n Jesse R. Ream, 26, of Mansfield, was arrested on a warrant Saturday and charged with failure to pay fines and costs.

n Arrested two juveniles on theft charges Saturday after East Main Street residents saw three suspects entering vehicles. The residents chased the suspects and caught two on Vinewood Drive.

n Investigated a report of a drunk driver heading south on Milan Avenue on Saturday.

n Investigated the theft of a tailgate from a truck at a Milan Avenue business Saturday.

n A Fruen Street resident reported the theft of a rototiller Sunday.

n A Bennet Lane resident reported vehicle damage Sunday.

n A Parsons Street resident reported an undisclosed theft from a vehicle Sunday.

n Investigated damage to a vehicle at a Milan Avenue business Sunday.

n A West Chestnut Street resident reported the theft of a car stereo, radar detector, loose change and a PSP game console from a vehicle Sunday.

n Dispatched a sick raccoon on Woodlawn Avenue with the animal control rifle Sunday.

n Investigated a report of a man taking an overdose of pills Sunday. He was taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

n Jeffrey C. Malcolm, 17, of 8 Baneberry Lane, was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance Monday in the three-car collision on Whittlesey Avenue. Malcolm hit the rear of the stopped vehicle driven by Heidi M. Gilbert, 30, of 11A Norwood Ave., which pushed her car into the rear of the 200 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Melanie A. Davidson, 35, of 82 Old State Road. Gilbert wasn’t transported for minor injuries.

n A Benedict Avenue business employee reported unspecified criminal damaging Monday.

n An area resident reported being harassed and was followed by the male suspect to a medical appointment Monday.

n Patience M. Link, 28, of 1949 Wenz Road, Wakeman, was arrested on a contempt of court warrant Monday. She currently is serving a three-day sentence at the Huron County Jail.

n Danny D. Dotson, 52, whose address was unavailable, was arrested on warrant Monday and charged with one count of passing bad checks. He was released later that day from the Huron County Jail.

n An area gas employee reported the theft of several undisclosed items from a Milan Avenue storage building Monday. The incident remains under investigation.

n Michael Miller, 38, of 3015 S. Ohio 61, was arrested on 13 warrants Monday. Twelve of the warrants were in connection with failing to pay fines and costs and the remaining one was an impersonating a police officer charge. He was released because the warrants weren’t “bondable.”

n The Sandusky Police Department reported having Demetrius Taylor, 33, of Sandusky, in custody on two local warrants Monday. He was charged with failure to pay fines and costs. When taken to a jail, a supervisor searched Taylor and found a small bag with coins and a small amount of marijuana in his right front pants pocket. He remains in custody.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE

n An area motorist reported people were walking down U.S. 224, Greenwich, Sunday.

n Transferred a 9-1-1 call to North Central EMS from Ohio 60, Wakeman, about a male patient not breathing Sunday.

n The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reported a house fire Sunday on North Greenfield Road, Willard. The Willard Fire Department later requested assistance from other departments.

n An East U.S. 20, Wakeman, resident reported someone was shining a laser light in her daughter’s bedroom Monday.

n A Lakeshore Drive, Willard, resident reported her juvenile daughter was being unruly Monday.

n Residents on Hartland Center Road, Collins, and East U.S. 20, Wakeman, reported telephone harassment Monday.

n A Wakeman Townline Road, Collins, resident reported the unauthorized use of a credit card Monday.

n An East Ohio 61 resident reported an unspecified theft Monday.

n Michelle Gordon, 38, of Shiloh, was arrested on a failure to appear/probation violation warrant Monday and released.

n Justin T. Shreve, 18, of 1611 Chenango Road, Wakeman, was arrested in connection with a fraud complaint Monday. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

MONROEVILLE POLICE

n A Williams Street resident reported Friday paying a U.S. 250, Norwalk, man $1,700 to do remodeling work at a village triplex. The complainant accused the worker of stealing copper and dry wall and returning material to home improvement stores and receiving store credit. The case remains under investigation.

n A Fulton Street resident requested an officer check her sister’s North Street apartment Saturday, where the complainant found the front door standing open. An officer and a sheriff’s deputy checked the home and determined the dead bolt lock had been pried open and the door jam was split. The resident didn’t see anything out of place, but said her apartment had been secured when she left earlier in the day. The incident remains under investigation.

NEW LONDON POLICE DEPARTMENT

The New London Police Department blotter covering Jan. 1 through 6 had the following highlights:

Jan. 1

n Checked “zone 2” in response to someone hearing gunshots.

Jan. 2

n Provided an escort for Eastman’s Funeral Home.

Jan. 3

n Dispatchers received 9-1-1 hang-up calls from Westwood Drive, where police determined juveniles made prank calls.  

Jan. 5

n Stood by while tenants were served an eviction notice at an undisclosed location.

n A local resident reported his family was threatened. Police referred the matter to the Huron County Sheriff’s Office because the incident happened outside the village limits.

n Patricia A. Finkel, 48, of 158 High St., New London, was arrested on a warrant and charged with failure to report to jail. The next day, she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a marijuana pipe in a cruiser. Finkel was released Jan. 8 after serving a three-day sentence at the Huron County Jail.

n Escorted an unruly fan off the school grounds.

Jan. 6

n A West Main Street resident reported a domestic dispute.

n A North Main Street business employee reported the driver of white car left without paying for about $31 worth of gasoline.

n Responded to a South Railroad Street business, where two juveniles broke a window. Police contacted the owner and the parents agreed to pay for the damage.
