The annual sweater drive sponsored by KeyBank and United Fund has started

The project started in northeast Ohio in 1997 as a celebration of 30 years of the Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood television show. "We are the only location in the original area that has continued the drive every winter since," said Linda Bersche, Executive Director of the United Fund.

"We receive calls every year about this time to see if we are holding the sweater drive again," Ann Schloemer of KeyBank said. "It's a great time of year to clean out your older sweaters to make room for the new ones you got for Christmas."

More than 7,600 sweaters have been donated to the annual project. Sweaters are delivered to local nursing homes, youth and senior agencies and the clothing bank.

If you wish to donate gently used sweaters, you may drop them off at either KeyBank location in Norwalk or Wakeman, or the United Fund office at 10 W. Main St. in Norwalk.

The drive will be held through Feb. 29. Call the United Fund at (419) 668-0269 for more information.
