An infant died Tuesday and its twin was critically injured when the car they were traveling in struck a railroad crossing on Fostoria Road at the railroad crossing just south of SR-163 in Troy Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said that Lori A. Massingill, 38, of Ida, Mich., was traveling down the road at a high rate of speed at 10:55 a.m., when she struck the crossing and went airborne, going off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle re-entered the roadway and went off the left side of the roadway striking a ditch and rolling twice, troopers reported.
Twin passengers in the back seat, who have not been identified, were flown to Mercy St. Medical Center, where one was pronounced dead and the other listed in critical condition. Ms. Massingill was also transported to the hospital, where she was listed in fair condition there late Tuesday, troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation.
