An Erie County jury today recommended the death penalty for a man convicted in the triple homicide of a woman and her children.

A sentence in the case will be handed down on Friday in Common Pleas Court.

Earlier today, Curtis Clinton, 42, denied repeatedly any involvement in the murders of Heather Jackson, 23, and her children, Celina Jackson, 3, and Wayne Jackson, Jr., 20 months on Sept. 8, 2012.

Clinton, who spoke for more than hour, said he went to Ms. Jackson’s home that night and they had sex, but he said he left the residence and went home.

“I can look each one of you in the eyes and tell you I didn’t do this,” he said.

Clinton was the only person to take the witness stand during the penalty phase of the proceeding, which was held today.

The jury of eight men and four women began deliberations late this morning after receiving instructions from Judge Tygh Tone. In addition to the death penalty, the jury could have recommended life in prison without the possibility of parole, life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years, or life in prison with the chance of parole after 25 years.

The panel found Curtis guilty last week of five counts of aggravated murder, three counts of rape, and one count of aggravated burglary.

Death of this piece isn't enough. Torture is a good start.

Too bad they can't kill him 3 times

I agree with you methodman... He should be drug from the back of a car until dead.. yes im angry.. I didn't pray about the verdict because this situation is too close to me.. so I didn't pray for his life.. but im sure glad the verdict went the way that I wanted it too.

His death sentence should be starving to death. I don't want my tax dollars feeding this garbage. He deserves to suffer.

The sad thing is that we will be paying for this scum bag to live until all appeals are exhausted. Could be the next 20 years. Unfortunately a quick death will not due in this case

I for one do not agree with the death penalty because the government is doing exactly what they are punishing the criminal for doing. The only one who has a right to take our life is God. He gave it to us and he can take it back. I believe he should get life without parole and spend that entire time in solitary. No tv,no radio, nothing that would give him any amount of pleasure.

The Bible also states "an eye for an eye", so in God's word or religious beliefs he should be raped, beaten, and then smothered to death. The death penalty is too lenient for what he has done in my opinion. Giving him the death sentence only means, as mentioned above by someone, that we the taxpayers will foot his bill to appeal for the next 20 years. We will pay for food, shelter, clothing, and legal fee's for about 20 years or more and then finally we will pay for the State of Ohio to execute him. How about saving everyone a bunch of tax dollars and just put him chained up on display on the Erie County Courthouse lawn and let the family members of the victims beat on him for a few days. Then after they feel he has suffered some of the pain that the victims and the family have endured, let them execute him in a manner that the family deems fair to them. Better yet, instead of the taxpayers of Ohio paying to keep him alive and well in prison while he exhausts all avenues of the State of Ohio's appeals, make him do hard labor to help pay the bills and have his family also share the expense monthly like a child support order. It is ridiculous that so much money is spent on keeping someone alive and healthy only to kill them 20+ years down the road. There needs to be some sort of "prison support order" drawn up to help cut the state's costs. Run it just like a child support order, give him 18 years to appeal and during that 18 years have the parents of the accused pay a set monthly amount. Also during those 18 years the convicted individual should be made to do hard labor 8-12 hours a day Monday through Friday and then locked in solitary confinement on the weekends. Once the 18 years is up if the verdict is still the same then just take him out in the yard of the prison and put one round in his head at close range with a large caliber weapon that is sure to send him to his maker......JMHO

Unfortunately, the government isn't going to punish him exactly the same way as he did to all FOUR of his victims.
When he was rambling at the stand, the sorry SOB had the nerve to bash the mother as a parent. He also kept repeating he has no regrets.
What he did to that little girl alone, deserves nothing less than the death penalty.
