I have just completed the reading of our local socialist professor, Pat Saunders, and his most recent diatribe that is so willingly published by the Reflector.
Mr. Saunders chides Mayor Lesch for her honesty and, let’s face it, despite Mr. Saunders’ eloquent rewrite of history the fact remains that Kucinich was a failed mayor and is so extreme in his views that he is not even seriously considered by a majority of his own party. Why this letter was published as a “visiting viewpoint” and not a standard letter to the editor is beyond me. The letter is more than 300 words, so I guess that kicks it into the “visiting viewpoint” slot.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the likes of Pat Saunders and local atheist and superior moralist Rick Mullins. Not since college many years ago have I been treated to “blood of the workers oils the gears of capitalism” letters that Pat provides occasionally. It’s kind of like comfort food — you always know what you are going to get when these guys write in.
Again, in reference to the “visiting viewpoint” designation of this letter and my problem with it: How does one get a visiting viewpoint? I am a college degreed vice president of marketing for a major domestic steel foundry. If my letter is more than 300 words and fairly articulate, what do I need to do to get a “visiting viewpoint” status? I’m pretty well read; I could come up with something good. I’m sure of it. Or is the “visiting viewpoint” only for socialist college professors with ties to the county Democratic Party machine?
By the way Pat, Kucinich should have tried for abduction by that UFO he saw. Then he would have had something substantial to talk about in his no-traction campaign.
