The Sandusky post of the state Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian being hit by a car.

The crash occurred at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday on Bogart Road west of Columbus Avenue in Perkins Township.

Steven L. Dickman, 61, of 13309 Patten Tract Road, Monroeville, was driving a 2012 Chevy Impala east on Bogart when Edward A. Bikulcius, 85, of 809 W. Bogart Road, Sandusky, was walking across the road from a north to south direction, troopers said. Bikulcius was in the eastbound lane of traffic when he was struck by Dickman’s vehicle.

Bikulcius was transported from the scene by Perkins Fire Department/EMS to Firelands Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Dickman was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and received no injuries. The right front passenger in Mr. Dickman’s vehicle was his wife, Louise A. Dickman. She also was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and received no injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and alcohol and/or drugs does not believe to be a factor, troopers said.

Assisting agencies included Perkins Police Department and Perkins Fire & EMS.
