Melvin Eaton, Huron County dog warden for 11 years, is retiring and county commissioners are searching for his replacement.
The county has three deputy dog wardens, but none have applied for the top job yet.
Eaton started working for the office in 1978 and became warden in 1996.
Qualifications for the job include supervisory skills and at least three years of experience in dog control. Applicants should also have the ability to handle vicious and uncontrolled dogs, good public relations skills and knowledge of state and local dog control laws and ordinances.
