Waverly man who fled after killing two women and an unborn child in a Pike County car crash has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Paul J. Riggs, 30, previously pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and single counts of aggravated vehicular assault and failure to stop at the scene of the crash on June 24.

Common Pleas Court Judge Randy Deering sentenced Riggs on Tuesday to five years on each of the homicide counts and three years on the assault charge and ordered the sentences served concurrently.

Riggs was sentenced to two years on the failure to stop charge to be served consecutively with the other sentences, yielding a seven-year sentence, said Prosecutor Rob Junk.

Tina L. Ogler, 35, of Beaver, who was pregnant, and a passenger, Mary Jane Cooper, 19, of Beaver, died in the crash on River Road when Riggs’ car crossed the center line. A 14-year-old boy in Ogler’s car was seriously injured, but recovered.

Riggs ran from the crash scene and remained at large for nine days before he was tracked down in Pike County and arrested by state troopers and deputies.

Pike County is about 60 miles south of Columbus.

only 7 years? for killing two women and an unborn baby, then running from the scene? that's sick. he should be in for life.

I agree Coolstorybro.

I also find it strange that the unborn child here was MURDERED but in a Frankenstein facility its called a woman's right. The laws are contradictory because everyone knows its murder to kill a human bu the ungodly continues their efforts to justify and whitewash their murders by manipulations upon the legal system, a fantasy world that the baby somehow isn't alive. The murderers seem to think the unborn magically becomes a 'fetus' instead of a life when it becomes more convenient for them.

Pardon me? 5+5+3+2 consecutively equals 15. Not 7.
