'Menace to society' guilty on all charges

Jury takes only about an hour to decide verdict in drug-related home invasion.

It took a jury a little more than an hour Thursday to convict Jeremy M. Sax of all charges against him.

Jurors began deliberating at 1:08 p.m. Thursday and returned with guilty verdicts at 2:15 p.m. The trial began Tuesday.

Sax, 34, of Norwalk, was charged with robbery, aggravated burglary and tampering with evidence in connection with a March 1 drug-related incident.

Sax, sporting tattoos on his back, neck and shaved head, wore a salmon-colored shirt in court and covered his mouth with his hand immediately before and after Huron County Common Pleas Judge Jim Conway read the verdicts. He looked down, but showed no other emotion. He spoke to his attorney, Sarah Nation, after hearing the verdicts.

Sax's half sister, Treva Campbell, 30, of 38 Newton St., has pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence. Her sentencing date is Oct. 9. Norwalk resident Larry Thornsberry, 36, Campbell's boyfriend, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of burglary and is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 30 for one count each of burglary and attempted tampering with evidence.

On March 1, Campbell drove Sax and Thornsberry to the victim's home, where Thornsberry grabbed the man from behind in a choke-hold and Sax repeatedly hit him with a black handgun, prosecutors and the victim have said. Huron County Prosecutor Russell Leffler has said witnesses placed Campbell at the crime scene and she was waiting in the car before she decided to go inside the house to see what was taking so long.

After the assault, Campbell drove her accomplices away from the scene and stopped the vehicle so Sax could throw out the weapon. On March 8, a Huron County Sheriff's Office search team found an airsoft pistol in water under a Jennings Road bridge adjacent to the Fitchville Conservation Club.

The victim went to Fisher-Titus Medical Center to have staples put in his head.

Investigators have determined the situation began to develop when Sax's then-girlfriend -- 23-year-old Brittany N. Fernekees of New London -- went to her ex-boyfriend's home to retrieve her laptop computer. Charges against her were dismissed later.

Sax, who is being represented by Sarah Nation, had until Friday to accept a plea deal.

Nation declined to comment following the verdict.

"We're extremely satisfied with the result," Huron County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Josh Querin said. "We strongly believe that (Sax) is a menace to society."

Querin credited Detective Eric Bardar, Monroeville Police Officer Troy Kimball and Sheriff Dane Howard with putting in long hours into the investigation and finding the firearm in the creek.

Leffler said he was satisfied with the verdict and credited police for doing good work.

He said the state initially had some difficulties with the case, since the victim was another drug dealer. Leffler said he couldn't get him to testify.

"I think he was laying low," the prosecutor said.

Here we go again another lame comment...no one knows what you look like but you sound like a complete PC of s--t to make a comment on the way someone looks ...you much not have much of a life either..good job smart one ..it's truly amazing how all you lames can comment on something you know nothing about..your a true winner

BlackWidow

We may not be winners but clearly not to your loser status. None of us are in the paper and then on the blogs trying to defend the situation when you snitched out your own brother. Why defend him now when you threw him under the bus to get yourself off. We know about the situation because we have been updated for months on what is going on and maybe you failed to read this article or the one yesterday but YOU told all the facts on what happened. So I would say that we do know what is going on YOU told us. For a 2 year college degree your not very bright I think a few crayons fell out your box.

Dear Lames:

Your=your; you're=you are. If you want to lay the smack down on someone, learn to proofread.

Actually I know everything I need to about this loser, and his loser sister! He's been to prison more times then I can count, he "pistol whipped" someone so he could steal their drugs, and he is a menace to society! As for the sister.....she drove the car to the scene of the crime, allowed them to ditch the gun, and is a piece of crap mother! You obviously are either related to these losers, or you're Treva using a new screen name! Your best bet would be to stay away from him, unless you enjoy spending time in jail/prison! He looks like a walking bag of HIV......which I've heard he is exactly that!! Do the world a favor and continue using, maybe one day we won't have to waste our tax dollars on you anymore!!!

I AM a winner, unlike you, on the front page of the paper. Go sharpen your syringe, clean your spoon, and STFU you junkie. Nobody cares what you think.

If all people understood you reap what you sow, then maybe we would have less of this to make comments on in the news ... If you lay down with dogs you get up with fleas. It is a very easy concept to understand. some people call it Karma. others say what goes around comes around. no matter how you put it, if you live by the sword you die by the sword.
