Dayton Police are investigating an incident on Lakeview Avenue Sunday evening in which several witnesses reported seeing a naked woman coaxed into a vehicle by a group of men.
The Special Victims Squad is investigating because one witness thought the woman may have been being sexually assaulted; but Sgt. Larry Tolpin, head of that unit, said there is little evidence at this point that a crime occurred.
“We don’t have a victim, we don’t have a suspect, we don’t have a vehicle,” he said.
The woman was gone when police arrived at about 11 p.m. and they have not been able to locate her. Her clothes were found nearby.
According to a police report, dispatchers received calls from witnesses who said four men were pulling on a woman who was lying naked in the grass near the intersection of Lakeview and Germantown Pike. One woman said she slowed her car to see what was happening and was yelled at by the males to, “go on about your business…ain’t nothing to see here.”
Another witness sitting at a nearby bus stop told police that she saw the woman walking alone before the men arrived. She said the naked woman approached her and attempted to touch her, accidentally grabbing her earring, according to the report.
A third witness said he was walking by as the men attempted to put the naked female into their vehicle and was punched by one of the men for some unknown reason.
The vehicle was described as a four-door dark car, possibly a Buick.
Tolpin said anyone with information about this incident or the possible victim is asked to contact police at 937-225-4357. The female is described in the report only as a white woman with long brown hair.
He said they are looking into several theories, including the possibility that the alleged victim was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
