A 29-year-old Pleasant Township woman was struck and killed as she tried to cross I-71 after her car ran out of gas shortly after noon Monday.
Ashley S. Dennison’s car broke down on the east side of southbound I-71 north of Stringtown Road shortly after noon, according to Franklin County sheriff’s investigators.
Dennison called her boyfriend for help and was on the opposite side of the freeway when he arrived, said Cpl. Thad Lookabaugh.
She attempted to cross back to her car and was struck by a vehicle drive by Nichole Dangelo, 24, of Cincinnati.
The southbound lanes of I-71 were closed for a few hours after the crash.
