Area road closings, delays announced

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has issued its District 3 construction report for the week of Sept. 23.

Here is the report:

ASHLAND COUNTY
US Route 42
US 42, between Baney Road to just north of US Route 250 in the City of Ashland, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic maintained with flaggers as part of a resurfacing project. Motorists should expect delays throughout the construction of this project. The project is expected to be complete in late November 2013.

Interstate 71
I-71, from just north of US Route 250 to the Wayne/Medina County line (between mile markers 187 and 200), has intermittent lane closures for work as part of a preventive maintenance project. Two lanes will be maintained at all times during the daytime hours in each direction, and one lane will be maintained at night. Work will be complete in October 2013.

State Route 89 - ***UPDATE***
SR 89, one-half-mile north of County Road 800 in the Village of Polk, is now open. The road was previously closed for railroad repairs.

State Route 302 - ***NEW***

SR 302, at the Ashland Railway Crossing just east of Township Road 713, is closed for repairs. The detour route for eastbound motorists is SR 302 to State Route 58, north on SR 58 to State Route 89, south on SR 89, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on September 26, 2013.

State Route 511
SR 511, between State Route 39 and the City of Ashland, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic for resurfacing work. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times. The project is expected to be complete in late October, 2013.

                                                               

CRAWFORD COUNTY

US Route 30 - ***UPDATE***
The eastbound driving lane of US 30, just west of the CSX railroad underpass, is closed for work as part of a slide repair project. One lane of US 30 westbound will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in May 2014.

 

ERIE COUNTY
State Route 4
SR 4, at its bridge over the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks (one-quarter-mile north of the Huron County line), is restricted as part of an embankment repair project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction. The project will be complete in November 2013.

 

US Route 6
US 6 (Venice Road), between Superior Street and Edgewater Avenue in the City of Sandusky, is closed for tie-in work as part of the railroad grade separation project. The detour route for westbound motorists is US 6 to State Route 101 (Tiffin Avenue), south on SR 101 to State Route 2, west on SR 2 to US 6, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on September 25, 2013.

 

State Route 61 - ***UPDATE***
SR 61, one-quarter-mile south of Township Road 82 (Deehr Road), is closed for a culvert replacement project. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 61 to State Route 113, east on SR 113 to State Route 60, north on SR 60 to State Route 2, west on SR 2 to SR 61, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on September 25, 2013.

 

HURON COUNTY
State Route 60
SR 60, just north of State Route 162 in the village of New London, remains closed due to an unsafe building structure. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 60 to SR 162, east on SR 162 to Biglow Parkway, north on Biglow Parkway to SR 60, and reverse for southbound motorists. The closure will remain in place indefinitely.

State Route 61
SR 61, 0.3 mile north of Laylin Road in Norwalk Township, is closed for a bridge replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 61 to Cleveland Road, east on Cleveland Road to US Route 20, east on US 20 to State Route 601, north on SR 601 to SR 61, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on October 18, 2013.

State Route 99
SR 99, between Township Road 34 and State Route 547, is closed for an embankment stabilization project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 99 to US Route 20, east on US 20 to State Route 61, south on SR 61 to State Route 162, west on SR 162 to SR 99, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on October 31, 2013.  

Prospect Street
Prospect Street, between Energy Street and Main Street in the Village of New London, is closed for a bridge replacement project. Local detour is posted. The road is expected to reopen in early December 2013.

LORAIN COUNTY
State Route 58 - ***NEW***
SR 58, between Merriam Road and Webster Road, is closed for a culvert replacement project. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 58 to State Route 18, west on SR 18 to State Route 511, north on SR 511 to US Route 20, east on US 20 to SR 58, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on October 7, 2013.

Interstate 90
I-90, over the Black River and Ford Road, is reduced to two narrowed 11’ lane widths of traffic in each direction for bridge deck replacements. The restrictions will remain in place through November 2013.

State Route 301 - ***UPDATE***
SR 301 (Abbe Road), at its bridge over Interstate 90 in the village of Sheffield, is now open. The road was previously closed for a bridge replacement project.

State Route 303
SR 303, just west of State Route 511 in Camden Township, is closed for a culvert replacement. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR 303 to SR 511, north on SR 511 to US Route 20, west on US 20 to State Route 60, south on SR 60 to SR 303, and reverser for eastbound motorists. The road is expected is to reopen on October 8, 2013.

 

State Route 511
SR 511, between the Ashland County line and US Route 20, has intermittent single lane closures for finalization work as part of a preventive maintenance project. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times through early October, 2013.

 

State Route 611
SR 611, in the City of Lorain, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic as part of a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times. The project is expected to be complete by December 2013.

State Route 611
SR 611, between Chester Road and State Route 254 (Detroit Road) in the City of Avon, is restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction as part of a bridge rehabilitation and resurfacing project. The project is scheduled to be complete in June 2015.

MEDINA COUNTY
State Route 3
SR 3, just west of the CSX railroad tracks in the village of Seville, is closed for a bridge replacement. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 3 to Interstate 76, east on I-76 to State Route 57, south on SR 57 to State Route 604, west on SR 604 to SR 3, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road will reopen in late September, 2013.

State Route 18
SR 18, near the square in the City of Medina, has intermittent lane closures for work as part of an urban paving project as well as on SR 57. Motorists wishing to bypass the construction zone are encouraged to use Smith Road and State Road as alternate routes. Motorists should expect delays during the construction of this project, and allow for extra time as they travel in and around the City of Medina. The project is expected to be complete in December 2013.

Interstate 76 - ***UPDATE***
I-76, between State Route 57 and State Route 21 in Summit County, is reduced to narrowed lanes of traffic for a rehabilitation project. Two lanes of traffic westbound are being maintained using the contraflow traffic configuration. Eastbound traffic is reduced to one lane between SR 57 and SR 94, and two lanes between SR 94 and the Summit County line. The project will be complete in October 2013.

·         The I-76 westbound exit ramp to SR 94 is maintained with narrowed lanes for repair work as part of this project.

·         The State Route 94 entrance ramp to Interstate 76 westbound is closed for ramp rehabilitation work. The detour route is SR 94 to I-76, east on I-76 to State Route 261, north on SR 261 to I-76 west. The ramp is expected to reopen on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.

State Route 421
SR 421, between US Route 42 and US Route 224, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction. The project is expected to be completed by October 2013.

RICHLAND COUNTY
US Route 42
US 42, between McElroy Road and Pavonia Road, is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

Interstate 71 (Morrow County) - ***UPDATE***
I-71, from just south of the Morrow/Richland County line to State Route 95 (between mile markers 158 and 150), is reduced to two narrowed lanes of traffic as part of a reconstruction and widening project. Two 11’foot lanes are being maintained in each direction as the contractor places the final surface course of asphalt. The work zone is no longer in a crossover traffic pattern. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

Interstate 71
I-71, from just south of State Route 39 to the Ashland County line (between mile markers 172 and 178), has intermittent lane closures for work as part of a preventive maintenance project. Two lanes will be maintained at all times during the daytime hours in each direction, and one lane will be maintained at night. Work will be complete in October 2013.

State Route 545
SR 545, between US Route 30 and State Route 96, has intermittent single lane closures as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in December 2013.

·         SR 545, at its bridge over the Black Fork River (between Pavonia Road and Vantilburg Road), is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic maintained with a temporary signal through early-October.

Trimble Road, Mansfield
Trimble Road, near its interchange with US Route 30 in the City of Mansfield, may have intermittent single lane closures for finalization work as part of a traffic signal replacement project from National Parkway to Longview Avenue. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

WAYNE COUNTY
State Route 3
SR 3, from just south of Sterling Road to Interstate 76 in Medina County, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in November 2013.

State Route 3/Columbus Avenue
Single lane closures on US 30, under the State Route 3/Columbus Avenue bridge, will remain in place as well as nightly intermittent ramp closures for painting work. The project is expected to be completed by September 30, 2013.

State Route 3/State Route 83/Dix Expressway - ***UPDATE***
SR 3/SR 83, between US Route 30 and Friendsville Road, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a concrete joint repair project. One lane in each direction will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in November 2013.

·         The State Route 3/State Route 83 southbound exit ramp to State Route 585, is closed for repair work. The detour route for southbound motorists is to continue south on SR 3/SR 83 to the end of the highway, and immediately follow the ramp to head north on SR 3/SR 83 to SR 585. The ramp is expected to reopen on October 3, 2013.

·         The SR 3/SR 83 southbound exit ramp to East Lincoln Way/US Route 30 East is closed for repair work. The detour route for southbound motorists is to continue south on SR 3/SR 83 to the end of the highway, and immediately follow the ramp to head north on SR 3/SR 83 to either Sylvan Road (to access East Lincoln Way) or US 30 East. The ramp is expected to reopen on October 3, 2013.

Interstate 71
I-71, from just north of US Route 250 in Ashland County to the Medina County line (between mile markers 187 and 200), has intermittent lane closures for work as part of a preventive maintenance project. Two lanes will be maintained at all times during the daytime hours in each direction, and one lane will be maintained at night. Work will be complete in October 2013.

State Route 302/Madison Avenue
Madison Avenue, between State Route 83 and Liberty Street in the City of Wooster, will have intermittent single lane closures for finalization work as part of a resurfacing project.  The project includes SR 83 between SR 302 and US Route 250 as well. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.
