A Huron County grand jury has indicted a local man accused of having "non-consensual" sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Lee “Levi” A. Gustafson Jr., 27, of 325 Lyme St., Bellevue, is charged with rape and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
The suspect was one of 21 people indicted Friday in Huron County. The results of the grand jury session were made public Monday.
Gustafson Jr. was arrested without incident at his home in April.
“It’s reported as a one-time incident that occurred,” Bellevue Police Detective Tom Saleski earlier told the Reflector. “She reported there was vaginal intercourse that occurred — non-consensual. She’s not a sexually-active teenager.”
Gustafson has denied the allegation, Saleski said. It came to light after the girl’s mother called police about an hour after the suspected incident April 5 at Gustafson’s home.
“She’s 15 years old. They are acquaintances within the family,” Saleski said.
“She went to the hospital for the examination. ... She had no injuries requiring medical attention,” he said.
After his arrest, Gustafson “came willing to the P.D. to talk to me,” Saleski said.
Gustafson was taken to the Huron County Jail and then released after posting a $30,000 bond.
