Lewellen hits century mark with his Meals on Wheels

Senior Enrichment Services volunteer Jim Lewellen will celebrate the big 100 Dec. 27 not in years, but in the number of days he has delivered Meals on Wheels in 2007. Senior Enrichment Services, which facilitates the program, recently honored Lewellen for being the first volunteer to ever deliver 100 days in a single year at Thursday's volunteer appreciation luncheon.

Senior Enrichment Services volunteer Jim Lewellen will celebrate the big 100 Dec. 27 not in years, but in the number of days he has delivered Meals on Wheels in 2007.

Senior Enrichment Services, which facilitates the program, recently honored Lewellen for being the first volunteer to ever deliver 100 days in a single year at Thursday's volunteer appreciation luncheon.

Lewellen, a life-long Norwalk resident, started working for MOW in 2000 while looking for a way to pay back the community that had given so much to him. Debe Gelvin approached him after church one Sunday and said she was looking for others to join her in volunteering for the Norwalk MOW program.
