Firelands Electric Cooperative has received notice from First Energy/Ohio Edison that their transmission line, which delivers electric power to Firelands’ Steuben Substation, will be taken out of service beginning at 2:30 p.m. today (Friday) for roughly three hours.

Firelands’ Steuben Substation provides electric service to approximately 1,086 Firelands Electric member-consumers in Bronson, Fairfield, Greenfield, Norwich, Peru and Richmond townships.

Ohio Edison reports that maintenance crews will replace two broken crossarms in their transmission line and estimates that power will be off for at least 3 hours. Firelands’ will have a line crew standing by the entire time, waiting for First Energy/Ohio Edison to complete their repairs, so power can be restored to Firelands’ members as quickly as possible.

Firelands Electric Cooperative apologizes for any inconvenience, and appreciates the patience and understanding of its membership.

Firelands Electric, A Touchstone Energy Partner, is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperative providing electric service to more than 9,000 homes and businesses in rural areas of Ashland, Huron, Lorain and Richland counties.
