A South Bloomfield woman was killed early yesterday when a tractor-trailer ran over her car near a traffic light on Ohio 23 south of Circleville.
The crash occurred about 1:20 a.m. on northbound Ohio 23 at Pittsburgh Road.
The semi crushed the car driven by Amy Schneider, 42, and two other vehicles also were caught up in the rear-end crash, said Pickaway County Sheriff Robert Radcliff. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver, Tracy Ferrell, 41, of Corunna, Mich., was charged with tampering with evidence for allegedly removing a page from his driving log book and trying to conceal it, Radcliff said.
The truck and Schneider’s compact car hit a car driven by Karen Kindle, 59, of Rushsylvania in Logan County, which then struck and flipped a sport-utility vehicle driven by Francis Shirey, 49, of Circleville, who was stopped at the traffic light.
Kindle was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in Columbus with non-life-threatening injuries, and Shirey was treated at Berger Hospital in Circleville and released, the sheriff said.
The northbound lanes of Ohio 23 were closed through the morning rush hour while deputies investigated the crash.
