Alleged rape in local nursing home being investigated

Village police are conducting interviews about a suspected rape involving two local nursing home residents.

The director of Briarfield of Milan reported the alleged incident at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. The suspected rape happened Saturday.

"The victim is 57 years old," Milan Police Chief Jim Rose said. "He (the suspect) is 47.

"The alleged suspect and victim both have diminished communication capacities," he said. "We've done some (interviews) and we've got a bunch left to do."

The case remains under investigation.
