Area road closings, delays announced

Huron County projects included in this week's construction report, including a new one in New London.

Here is the ODOT District 3 construction report for the week of Sept. 2:

ASHLAND COUNTY
US Route 42 - ***UPDATE***
US 42, between Baney Road to just north of US Route 250 in the City of Ashland, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic maintained with flaggers as part of a resurfacing project. Motorists should expect delays throughout the construction of this project. The project is expected to be complete in late November 2013.

·         US 42, between County Road 1302 and US Route 250, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic for bridge repairs as part of the resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained with a temporary signal through mid-September.

·         US 42, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic for bridge repairs just north of County Road 42B as part of the resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained with a temporary signal through mid-September.

·         Middle Rowsburg Road, at its eastern approach to US 42, is closed. Motorists should use Cleveland Avenue and US Route 250 as alternate routes around the area.

Interstate 71
I-71, from just north of US Route 250 to the Wayne/Medina County line (between mile markers 187 and 200), has intermittent lane closures for work as part of a preventive maintenance project. Two lanes will be maintained at all times during the daytime hours in each direction, and one lane will be maintained at night. Work will be complete in October 2013.

 

State Route 89 - ***UPDATE***
SR 89, between State Route 302 and State Route 58, is closed for the replacement of five culverts. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 89 to SR 302, west on SR 302 to State Route 58, north on SR 58 to SR 89, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on September 6, 2013.

 

State Route 511
SR 511, at its bridge over Interstate 71 in Montgomery Township, is closed for bridge repairs. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 511 to State Route 60, south on SR 60 to US Route 30, west on US 30 to SR 511, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on September 17, 2013.

 

State Route 511

SR 511, between State Route 39 and the City of Ashland, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic for resurfacing work. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times. The project is expected to be complete in late October, 2013.

                                                               

CRAWFORD COUNTY

State Route 19
SR 19, between the City of Bucyrus and the City of Galion, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic as part of a preventive maintenance project. One lane of traffic is maintained with flaggers at all times. The project is expected to be complete in mid-September, 2013.

 

State Route 103
SR 103, just west of High Street in the Village of New Washington, is closed for a bridge replacement. The detour route for eastbound motorists is SR 103 to State Route 4, north on SR 4 to US Route 224, east on US 224 to SR 103, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on September 16, 2013.

 

ERIE COUNTY
State Route 4
SR 4, at its bridge over the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks (one-quarter-mile north of the Huron County line), is restricted as part of an embankment repair project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction. The project will be complete in November 2013.

 

US Route 6
US 6 (Venice Road), between Superior Street and Edgewater Avenue in the City of Sandusky, is closed for tie-in work as part of the railroad grade separation project. The detour route for westbound motorists is US 6 to State Route 101 (Tiffin Avenue), south on SR 101 to State Route 2, west on SR 2 to US 6, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on September 25, 2013.

 

State Route 61
SR 61, one-quarter-mile south of Township Road 82 (Deehr Road), is closed for a culvert replacement project. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 61 to State Route 113, east on SR 113 to State Route 60, north on SR 60 to State Route 2, west on SR 2 to SR 61, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on September 19, 2013.

 

HURON COUNTY
State Route 60
SR 60, just north of State Route 162 in the village of New London, remains closed due to an unsafe building structure. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 60 to SR 162, east on SR 162 to Biglow Parkway, north on Biglow Parkway to SR 60, and reverse for southbound motorists. The closure will remain in place indefinitely.

State Route 61
SR 61, between State Route 598 and the City of Norwalk, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic for resurfacing work. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times. The project is expected to be complete in November 2013.

State Route 61
SR 61, 0.3 mile north of Laylin Road in Norwalk Township, is closed for a bridge replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 61 to Cleveland Road, east on Cleveland Road to US Route 20, east on US 20 to State Route 601, north on SR 601 to SR 61, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on October 18, 2013.

 

State Route 99
SR 99, one-half-mile north of Township Road 34, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic for an embankment stabilization project. Traffic is maintained with a temporary signal. The project is expected to be complete by November 24, 2013.

 

Prospect Street - ***NEW***
Prospect Street, between Energy Street and Main Street in the Village of New London, will close Tuesday, September 3 for a bridge replacement project. Local detour is posted. The road is expected to reopen in early December 2013.

 

LORAIN COUNTY
Interstate 90
I-90, over the Black River and Ford Road, is reduced to two narrowed 11’ lane widths of traffic in each direction for bridge deck replacements. The restrictions will remain in place through November 2013.

State Route 301                                                      
SR 301 (Abbe Road), at its bridge over Interstate 90 in the village of Sheffield, is closed as part of a replacement project.  The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 301 to State Route 254, southwest on SR 254 to I-90, east on I-90 to State Route 611, west on SR 611 to SR 301, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in mid-September, 2013.

State Route 511
SR 511, between the Ashland County line and US Route 20, is restricted to one lane of traffic as part of a preventive maintenance project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers through early October, 2013.

State Route 611
SR 611, in the City of Lorain, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic as part of a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times. The project is expected to be complete by December 2013.

State Route 611 - ***NEW***
SR 611, between Chester Road and State Route 254 (Detroit Road) in the City of Avon, is restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction as part of a bridge rehabilitation and resurfacing project. The project is scheduled to be complete in June 2015.

MEDINA COUNTY
State Route 3
SR 3, just west of the CSX railroad tracks in the village of Seville, is closed for a bridge replacement. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 3 to Interstate 76, east on I-76 to State Route 57, south on SR 57 to State Route 604, west on SR 604 to SR 3, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road will reopen in late September, 2013.

State Route 18
SR 18, near the square in the City of Medina, has intermittent lane closures for work as part of an urban paving project as well as on SR 57. Motorists wishing to bypass the construction zone are encouraged to use Smith Road and State Road as alternate routes. Motorists should expect delays during the construction of this project, and allow for extra time as they travel in and around the City of Medina. The project is expected to be complete in December 2013.

Interstate 76
I-76, between State Route 57 and State Route 21 in Summit County, is reduced to narrowed lanes of traffic for a rehabilitation project. Two lanes of traffic westbound are being maintained using the contraflow traffic configuration. Eastbound traffic is reduced to one lane between SR 57 and SR 94, and two lanes between SR 94 and the Summit County line. The project will be complete in October 2013.

·         The I-76 westbound exit ramp to SR 94 is maintained with narrowed lanes for repair work as part of this project.

State Route 421
SR 421, between US Route 42 and US Route 224, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction. The project is expected to be completed by October 2013.

RICHLAND COUNTY
US Route 42
US 42 (Ashland Road), between East 5th Street and Central Avenue in the City of Mansfield, is closed as part of a bridge repair project. The detour route for local traffic is US 42 to East 5th Street, west on East 5th Street to Wayne Street, north on Wayne Street to Orange Street, east on Orange Street to Central Avenue, south on Central Avenue and reverse for southbound motorists. The detour route for through traffic is US 42 to East 5th Street, west on East 5th Street to Wayne Street, north on Wayne Street to State Route 545, north on SR 545 to US Route 30, east on US 30 to US 42, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in mid-September 2013.

US Route 42 - ***NEW***
US 42, between McElroy Road and Pavonia Road, will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction as part of a resurfacing project beginning Tuesday, September 3. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

Interstate 71 (Morrow County)
I-71, from just south of the Morrow/Richland County line to State Route 95 (between mile markers 158 and 150), is reduced to two narrowed lanes of traffic as part of a reconstruction and widening project. Two 11’foot lanes are being maintained in each direction, and I-71 northbound is using a crossover traffic pattern through the remainder of the project. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

Interstate 71
I-71, from just south of State Route 39 to the Ashland County line (between mile markers 172 and 178), has intermittent lane closures for work as part of a preventive maintenance project. Two lanes will be maintained at all times during the daytime hours in each direction, and one lane will be maintained at night. Work will be complete in October 2013.

State Route 545
SR 545, between US Route 30 and State Route 96, has intermittent single lane closures as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in December 2013.

·         SR 545, at its bridge over the Black Fork River (between Pavonia Road and Vantilburg Road), is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic maintained with a temporary signal through early-October.

·         SR 545, at its bridge over Whetstone Creek (just south of State Route 603), is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic maintained with a temporary signal through mid-September.

Trimble Road, Mansfield
Trimble Road, near its interchange with US Route 30 in the City of Mansfield, will have intermittent single lane closures as part of a traffic signal replacement project from National Parkway to Longview Avenue. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

WAYNE COUNTY
State Route 3
SR 3, from just south of Sterling Road to Interstate 76 in Medina County, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in November 2013.

State Route 3/Columbus Avenue - ***UPDATE***
The Columbus Avenue bridge over US Route 30 in the City of Wooster is expected to be complete and have all lanes open to traffic by Saturday, August 31. Single lane closures on US 30 under the bridge will remain in place, as well as nightly intermittent ramp closures, for painting work through late September 2013.

State Route 3/State Route 83/Dix Expressway
SR 3/SR 83, between US Route 30 and Friendsville Road, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a concrete joint repair project. One lane in each direction will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in November 2013.

·         The US 30 eastbound exit ramp to SR 3/SR 83 north is closed. The detour route is to continue east on US 30 to Apple Creek Road, north on Apple Creek Road to US 30, west on US 30 to SR 3/SR 83 north. The ramp will reopen on September 6.

·         The US 30 westbound exit ramp to SR 3/SR 83 south is closed. The detour route is to continue west on US 30 to SR 3 south. The detour route for SR 83 southbound motorists is to continue west on US 30 to Madison Avenue, south on Madison Avenue to US 30, east on Madison Avenue to US 30, east on US 30 to SR 83 south. The ramp will reopen on September 6.

·         The SR 3/SR 83 northbound exit ramp to US 30 west is closed. The detour route is to continue north on SR 3/SR 83 to State Route 585, west on SR 585 to SR 3/SR 83, south on SR 3/SR 83 south to US 30 west. The ramp will reopen on September 6.

Interstate 71
I-71, from just north of US Route 250 in Ashland County to the Medina County line (between mile markers 187 and 200), has intermittent lane closures for work as part of a preventive maintenance project. Two lanes will be maintained at all times during the daytime hours in each direction, and one lane will be maintained at night. Work will be complete in October 2013.

 

State Route 302/Madison Avenue
Madison Avenue, between State Route 83 and Liberty Street in the City of Wooster, will have intermittent single lane closures for finalization work as part of a resurfacing project.  The project includes SR 83 between SR 302 and US Route 250 as well. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

 

State Route 604
SR 604, between State Route 301 and State Route 539, is closed for three culvert replacements. The detour route for eastbound motorists is SR 604 to SR 301, north on SR 301 to SR 539, south on SR 539 to SR 604, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on September 13, 2013.
