Husband and wife killed in crash

Four-vehicle accident takes place Sunday afternoon on Ohio 2

Troopers with the Sandusky post of the state Highway Patrol is currently investigating a four-vehicle crash that killed a married couple and sent several others to the hospital.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:49 p.m. Sunday in Ottawa County's Erie Township.

Here are the crash details, as provided by troopers via a press release:

Unit #1 was eastbound on SR 2.  Unit #2 was westbound on SR.  Unit’s #3 and #4 were stopped at the stop sign at Camp Perry waiting to enter SR 2.  Unit #1 failed to yield while turning left into the entrance to Camp Perry and was struck by Unit #2.  Unit #2 then struck Unit #3 and Unit #3 struck Unit #4.

Unit #1 was a Silver, 2009 Honda Accord, driven by Jerald Zimmer, 78, from Fremont. He was LifeFlighted from the scene to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, where he was pronounced dead. His wife, Rosanne Zimmer, 74, was passenger and she was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Unit #2 was a Green, 1999 Dodge Caravan, driven by Rosalinda Guerra, 34, from Toledo. She was LifeFlighted from the scene to St. Vincent.

Here are the passengers from Unit #2 and their status:

• Alexandra Davis, age 32, from Toledo, OH.  She was taken to Magruder ER with incapacitating injuries.

• Dominique Sullivan, age 15, from Toledo, OH.  She was taken to Magruder ER where she was treated and released.

• Diamond Sullivan, age 7, from Toledo, OH.  She was taken to Magruder ER where she was treated and released.

• Darreron Porter, age 13, from Toledo, OH.  He was taken to Magruder ER where he was treated and released. 

• Donnell Porter, age 10, from Toledo, OH.  He was taken to Magruder ER where he was treated and released.

Unit #3 was a black, 2013 Chevrolet Sonic, driven by Margaret Cumberland, age 56, from Hilliard, OH. She was transported to Magruder ER with incapacitating injuries. A passenger from Unit #3, Harold Cumberland, age 54, from Hilliard, sustained minor injuries and was not treated. 

Unit #4 was a Silver, 1994 Lexus driven by Anna M. Murphy, age 59, from Kenton, OH.  She did not sustain any injuries.

Here are the passengers from Unit #4 and their status:

• Garron Fischmann, age 49, from Kenton, OH.  He did not sustain any injuries.

• Ashlynn Fischmann, age 10, from Kenton, OH.  She did not sustain any injuries.

This crash is still under investigation, no citations have been issued, and alcohol or drugs do not appear to be involved.
