N.L. students excel on tests

NEW LONDON - Elementary Principal Laura Dowdell told the Board of Education Monday that 24 third-graders scored at the "Advanced Proficiency" level on the state reading test given this fall, and 80 percent scored "At or Above Proficiency." Intervention Specialist Jim Van Sickle said these were both new records for the school and added, "Those scores are a compliment to our students and our first- and second-grade teachers."
