Milan post names trooper of the year

MILAN - The Milan post of the state Highway Patrol named Lorain resident Edwin Lopez Jr. as its trooper of the year. Lopez is a six-year veteran with the patrol, having worked his entire career at the Milan post after he graduated from the academy. He is an Elyria Catholic High School graduate. Lopez attended Lorain Community College, working toward a degree in police science.

MILAN - The Milan post of the state Highway Patrol named Lorain resident Edwin Lopez Jr. as its trooper of the year.

Lopez is a six-year veteran with the patrol, having worked his entire career at the Milan post after he graduated from the academy. He is an Elyria Catholic High School graduate. Lopez attended Lorain Community College, working toward a degree in police science.

The trooper has received numerous accommodation letters from the public and law enforcement officials for his professionalism and exemplary public service. Lopez also is very active in his church and youth developmental activities in the Lorain community.

His local trooper of the year honor puts him in the running for district and state trooper of the year honors. Trooper Brian Gockstetter of the Norwalk post also is in contention.
