A Norwalk teenager wrecked her car after trying to check her phone.

Norwalk police reported Taylor J. Dupont, 17, of 9 Manahan Ave., was charged with failure to control following the accident, which took place around 8 a.m. Thursday.

Dupont was driving on Jefferson Street and then turned left onto State Street. After just completing the turn, she decided to check her phone, police said.

Her inattention to driving led to her vehicle going off the left side of the road and striking a guy wire, police said. This caused the front end of the car to raise off the ground, resulting in the vehicle flipping over onto its right side.

Dupont didn't report injuries, police said.
