Get involved stand tall today

Did you know that 33.4 percent of Ohio high school students smoke and that each year in our state roughly 38,600 youth under the age of 18 become new, daily smokers? Because we care about the health of the youth in Huron County, as well as all around Ohio, we have formed the Huron County stand Team a youth-led movement that tells other kids through the ages of 12 to 18 about the dangers of tobacco. Our team is made up of several teens who all have different reasons to be involved in stand. Some of us have been affected by tobacco use of friends or family members. We think stand is really important, but we have a lot of fun, too! We hold all kinds of events with free food and give away tons of stuff. We even went to a Cleveland Indians game and handed out tobacco information to other youth beforehand and had trainings at Cosi and Great Wolf Lodge.

We think stand is really important, but we have a lot of fun, too! We hold all kinds of events with free food and give away tons of stuff. And don't forget that today is the Great American Smoke Out! That would be a great day to decide to quit smoking you could be a nonsmoker in time for the holidays. That's the perfect gift for you to give to your family and friends!

So, keep an eye out for future stand events and flyers, Huron County! And if you're interested in speaking out against tobacco use and becoming a part of the movement, contact our advisor, Mackenzie VanDyne at 419-663-LUNG (5864) or ask one of us at school how you can get involved. We're the ones in the orange shirts!
