A 5-year-old boy has been released from a Toledo trauma center after an injury accident this weekend.
Zachary W. Chavanne, 5, of Grandview Heights, was released from Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, according to the state Highway Patrol's Norwalk post.
He was the passenger in a two-vehicle accident that happened at 4:20 p.m. Saturday in Lyme Township.
Sandusky resident David M. Haynes, 66, was southbound on Ohio before the collision. Trooper Bill Howard reported Haynes wasn't able to stop for stopped vehicles in front of him, one of which was making a left-hand turn onto Beckstein Road.
Haynes tried to avoid a collision by turning left onto Beckstein, but hit the vehicle driven by Suzanne K. Chavanne, of Grandview Heights, the trooper reported.
A LifeFlight helicopter flew Chavanne and the boy to Mercy St. Vincent both with serious injuries. A patrol spokeswoman said the boy was released later and Chavanne was in stable condition Monday.
North Central EMS transported Haynes to The Bellevue Hospital with serious injuries.
Charges are pending in the ongoing investigation.
