A man accused of stealing drugs from his mother was released from custody Monday.
Justin E. Legg, 18, of 56 Jefferson St., had been in the Huron County Jail since May 29 and unable to post 10 percent of a $5,000 bond. He has a Sept. 5 trial scheduled in Huron County Common Pleas Court. Legg is charged with theft of drugs in connection with a May 29 incident.
"He pretty much 'fessed up to everything," said Huron County Public Defender David Longo, who believes Legg could be a candidate for the drug intervention program.
Huron County Assistant Prosecutor Daivia Kasper said although Legg doesn't have any felony convictions, he has a theft-related conviction through Norwalk Municipal Court.
Common pleas Judge Jim Conway released Legg on a personal recognizance bond Monday. That means he signed a court document and promised he would return to court on his own.
Legg is subject to random drug screens. He is prohibited from having any contact with the victim and from being on her property.
